The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that it will be withdrawing the Rs 2000 denomination banknotes from circulation.

The Rs 2000 notes will continue to be legal tender until September 30, 2023.

After September 30, 2023, the Rs 2000 notes will no longer be legal tender and will not be accepted as a mode of payment.

The RBI has asked banks to provide deposit and/or exchange facility for Rs 2000 notes until September 30, 2023.

The RBI has also advised banks to stop issuing Rs 2000 denomination banknotes with immediate effect.

The objective of introducing Rs 2000 banknotes was to curb black money and counterfeit currency.

 However, the RBI has said that the objective of introducing Rs 2000 notes has been met and there is no need for these notes to be in circulation.

The RBI has also said that the withdrawal of Rs 2000 notes will not have any adverse impact on the economy.
